The app is built — what's left is Google's queue. A solo developer can't publish publicly until twelve testers have stayed opted in for fourteen unbroken days, so joining the test is simply the earliest way to get it. Once that clears it opens to public testing, then general release. Here's the whole ask, before you hand over an email address.
The part that actually matters: uninstalling early resets Google's counter for everyone, not just you. If two weeks on your phone isn't something you want to commit to, it's genuinely more useful to skip this one.
